We are always working to improve the lives of our residents and our staff are at the very heart of this.
Hear what they have to say about working for Chorley Council and South Ribble Borough Council.
My role in Shared Services is Customer and Digital Transformation. This involves reviewing the ways of working in Customer Services and the ways that the Councils’ customers access our services and identifying improvements. I also manage a number of projects that transform our customer experience including the website and contact centre systems. What I like about this role is that it allows me to review a great variety of different services that impact customers in different ways. For example, I might come to work in the morning and be looking at how the councils deliver garden waste services and then in the afternoon be looking at mail services. I enjoy the collaboration that this allows across teams and working with different people every day who are all working to a common goal which is delivering the best possible services to our residents and businesses. Katrina Sykes - Customer & Digital
"It's hard work, but massively rewarding. You'll feel challenged every day and no two days are the same. There's huge variety to what we do and it's great to have such a fantastic team behind you to support you and lean on when needed." Sam Yates - Recruitment
My current role is a dual role, I am a Community Engagement Officer (CEO)and Volunteering and Employability Officer (VEO). As a CEO I work within the community to support and improve the lives of Chorley residents. I currently work on the “Ageing Well” Team which supports residents over the age of 50. My secondary role is to help any residents with employment support, this includes creating programmes to improve our residents skills and confidence, as well as signposting them to partner organisations who can support them. I also help people get into volunteering and support them to achieve their volunteering goals. There is very little I don’t enjoy about my roles here. What I love most is that you can physically see the changes you make in the community. When we create a programme to support employment or a project for the community, you can see the results happening right in front of you. It’s great to see that the work you're doing is improving people’s lives and improving the town for years to come. Alex Roberts - Community Engagement
I am a Business Engagement Graduate for Chorley Council. I am based in the Town Hall but also travel to meetings across the borough and have the flexibility to work from home. My role includes providing business support, networking with local businesses, writing reports, performance management, delivering small projects and much more. I have been given a lot of autonomy in my role and the job pushes my limits. This job is ideal for someone who wants to build a well-rounded understanding of the Council. The best part about my job is the people, working alongside positive, enthusiastic, and motivated colleagues. My manager creates an enjoyable environment while still expecting us to work hard and meet our deadlines which allows me to fulfil my potential. The job provides lots of opportunities including training, chance to ask questions and career progression. Katherine McKinnon - Economic Growth
