Smile! You’re on camera! No, not now. But if you’re walking around Chorley, chances are, you’ll come across one of our 140+ CCTV cameras across the borough.

And right now, we’re looking for a new CCTV Operator to help keep our communities a safe place for everyone. But this role is much more than monitoring CCTV footage, you’ll play a critical role in Chorley’s communication with local police. This covers everything from gathering evidence for ongoing investigations, reporting potential crimes as they happen live and responding accordingly to CCTV requests.

You’ll be working from Chorley Council’s brand new, state-of-the-art CCTV Operation Centre based in Strawberry Fields.

We have multiple positions available between 21 - 28 hours per week. Hours worked between 8pm and 6am receive a 1/3 pay enhancement.

What you’ll be getting up to

  •  You’ll monitor activity on our state-of-the-art CCTV system, and work directly with police, Town Centre Ambassadors and Public Protection colleagues to initiate responses to incidents.
  •  You’ll communicate directly with police on active incidents as well as assisting with evidence gathering.
  •  You’ll work with our Town Centre Ambassadors and Public Protection colleagues to help make our communities safer places to live, work and visit.

Who we’re looking for

  •  We’re looking for excellent communicators. You will be responsible for dispatching and communicating with police and other security personnel. And because of that, a calm-head under pressure is essential in this role.
  •  You’ll need to have excellent attention to detail, as you gather evidence, and interpret information for police.
  •  You’ll also need to be a resilient person –although exciting, you may witness some stressful situations.

Additional Requirements

  •  You’ll need to complete Police vetting for this role (arranged and paid for by the Council).
Our Benefits
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (and Christmas shutdown)
  • Hybrid/agile working from day one
  • Local Government pension
  • Healthcare Cash Plan for cash back on health treatments
  • Cashback website access for savings on brands you love
  • Volunteering days
  • Free parking
