Role: Planning Assistant/Officer (Development Management)
Location: South Ribble Borough Council 
ContractFull time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent
Salary: £28,624 - £39,513

Are you a keen and dedicated Planning Officer with experience in Development Management looking for your next role in a friendly, supportive team?

We have a vacancy for a new team member who is keen and enthusiastic, has a can-do attitude and is ready to hit the ground running dealing with a varied workload of planning applications.

We are a positive and friendly team and have plenty of room for development should you want to progress further in your career. We also offer the opportunity to gain policy experience if desired.

The post is career graded, and appointment will be in line with qualifications and experience.

What you’ll be getting up to

  • Dealing with a mix of planning applications, producing reports and handling planning appeals to help deliver an effective and efficient planning service.
  • Supporting the key pieces of planning policy including gathering evidence, collating and analysing data, providing research and statistical monitoring support in order to deliver statutory and local monitoring reports.

Who we’re looking for

  • An ambitious and dedicated officer and who enjoys working in Local Government
  • Someone with experience of dealing with a range of planning applications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to a range of audiences
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport and negotiate with customers to reach a desired outcome
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and take action to resolve them
  • Knowledge of planning law and national and local planning policy.
