If you’re passionate about protecting tenants, improving housing conditions, and making a real impact in the private rented sector, this is a role where you can truly make a difference. As a Housing Standards & Compliance Officer, you’ll be on the frontline of driving up housing quality, preventing illegal evictions, tackling damp and mould, and supporting some of the most vulnerable households across the two boroughs. • Supporting the implementation of the national PRS Property Database and use digital tools for case management and compliance monitoring.
  • Working with other departments within the Council’s and partner agencies on joint visits, intelligence sharing, and multiagency enforcement.
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant landlord and letting agency redress and ombudsman schemes, giving advice and taking enforcement action, as required.
  • Providing advice, education, and guidance to tenants, landlords, councillors, and internal colleagues.
Who we’re looking for
  • Experience in a regulatory, housing enforcement, environmental health, tenancy relations, or similar investigatory role.
  • Experience handling complaints related to harassment, illegal eviction, tenancy disputes, or housing disrepair.
  • Experience preparing enforcement files, statements, and PACE‑compliant evidence.
