Role: Streetscene Operative (Cleansing)
Location: Moss Side Depot, Leyland
ContractFull time (36.25 hours per week) / Fixed Term (12 months)

Are you looking for a role within local government? Are you looking for a role that involves working outside, somewhere where you can really take some pride in your work?

We are looking for a number of Streetscene Operatives to join our borough-based cleansing teams.  In this role, you will be working all around the borough in an extremely varied role, looking after the borough’s community spaces, parks, and streets. You will be ensuring that they are in perfect condition for the residents, wider community, and visitors to the borough.

What will your role include?

  • You will get involved with street cleansing tasks such as removal of fly tipping and daily cleansing of local areas.
  • To complete daily schedules utilising digital platforms.
  • Always maintaining health and safety protocols whilst working
  • Operate cleansing tools and vehicles
  • Responding to minor emergencies such as flooding, obstructions, and damaged street furniture.

Who we are looking for?

  • You will be helping keep community spaces looking their best, so we are looking for someone who can really take pride in their work.
  • A team player and good communicator
  • Experience working with light 
  • You will be operating various vehicles in this role, so you will need to have a valid clean driving license

To meet service needs, there may be a requirement at times to temporarily adjust your working pattern to a later shift, approximately 5:30pm to 1:30am. These changes would be for short periods of 1 week and scheduled twice per year. We will always aim to give you at least one month’s notice of any change to your usual hours. When working these later shifts, you will receive the appropriate night work enhanced payments.
