About The Role

Role: Streetscene Operative
Location: Moss Side Depot, Leyland
ContractFull time (36.25 hours per week) / Fixed Term (12 months)

This is a specialist role requiring experience in mini sweeping, herbicide application and operating other specialist equipment. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across the borough, helping to keep our communities clean, safe and inviting.

Working both independently and as part of a team, you will carry out a mix of planned and reactive work, operating a range of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.

What you’ll be getting up to

  • Operating mini sweepers and other cleansing equipment
  • Carrying out weed control using chemical (PA1/PA2/PA6A) and mechanical methods, including CDA spraying
  • Undertaking grounds maintenance activities such as mowing, strimming, edging, planting and pruning
  • Carrying out litter collection, fly-tip removal, leaf clearance and general cleansing duties
  • Removing hazards including road debris and animal carcasses
  • Completing vehicle checks, daily sheets and compliance records
  • Maintaining equipment, tools and vehicles in a clean and safe condition
  • Following all health and safety procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work
Who we're looking for

You will be an experienced, practical individual with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality frontline services.

You will have:

  • PA1A, PA2 and PA6 spraying licences
  • Experience working with grounds maintenance and/or street cleansing equipment
  • Experience of herbicide application and highways/street cleansing work
  • Experience working outdoors in a similar environment

You will be able to:

  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Manage and prioritise your workload
  • Adapt to changing demands and service needs
  • Follow health and safety procedures at all times
  • Demonstrate a flexible, positive and proactive approach
