About The Role

Role: Policy and Transformation Lead
Location: Chorley Council and South Ribble Borough Council
ContractFull time / Permanent
Salary: £43,693- £44,711 plus 6% travel allowance 
Closing Date: Sunday 27 July 2025

 

This is an exciting role, focused on developing and leading an agile and forward thinking Policy and Transformation function. Working across both Chorley Council and South Ribble Borough Council, this is a unique opportunity to influence strategy and improvement across two councils.  

What you’ll be getting up to
  • Supporting the development of our Corporate Strategies and key corporate policies such as equality, diversity and inclusion. 
  • Developing a strategic and outward-looking policy function, briefing senior officers and politicians on external risks and opportunities 
  •  Building relationships with a range of internal stakeholders, and engaging with external policy networks 
  • Identifying and delivering improvement activity and actions
  • Managing and developing a team of policy officers 
Who we’re looking for
  • A strategic thinker, who can understand the bigger picture and use this to identify actionable improvements 
  • Someone who has a knowledge of local government and working within a political environment
  • An excellent communicator, who can present complex information to a range of audiences 
  • Someone who can build strong working relationships, both internally and externally, and support the development of an agile and responsive policy team
Other requirements
  • This role requires some travel around our boroughs. You should have a valid driving licence or the equivalent mobility.
