About The Role

Role: Resettlement Integration Officer
Location: Chorley Council 
ContractFixed Term Contract (24 Months) / Full time (36.25 hours per week)

Do you like a challenge and enjoy helping people? Join our Resettlement Team and play a key role in supporting refugees and asylum seekers as they begin their new lives in Chorley. You’ll deliver ESOL support, create volunteering opportunities, and help individuals and families feel confident, connected, and empowered in their new community. If you’re passionate about inclusion, positive change, and working with diverse communities, then this is a chance to make a meaningful impact every day.

What you’ll be getting up to
  • Deliver large-group informal ESOL classes, fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments.
  • Deliver informal conversational English sessions to individuals and small groups, including providing real-life opportunities to practice speaking/listening/reading/writing in community settings.
  • Deliver monthly cultural awareness workshops covering various topics to support households to integrate into their new life in the UK.
  • Develop and lead peer support and volunteering programmes to promote integration and community participation.
  • Facilitate opportunities for refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants to engage in meaningful activities that build confidence and social connections
Who we’re looking for
  • Level 3 or above qualification in ESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent.
  • A good standard of numeracy and literacy (in English) demonstrated through either qualifications or previous experience
  • Experience delivering informal or formal ESOL sessions to adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in planning and preparing schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Experience in case management or individual support planning.
  • Experience coordinating or facilitating community integration or volunteering programmes.
Other requirements
  • Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check (applied and paid for by the Council).
